This discipline is a sub-set of the field of communication. The purpose of the discipline is for the scholarly exploration and study of the vast array of new communication technologies that are emergent in society. This includes, but is by no means limited to such topics as Web 2.0, social networking, user-generated media, wireless communication, mobile media devices, High-definition television, digital television, DVR, on-demand programming. Focus in this discipline should relate to the communication aspect of these technologies.
